POST-EROTICA
ANTHROPOLOGY of MOTHERHOOD
Post Erotica, a solo show at 707 Gallery on Penn Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh, examined the experiences of the lives of mothers with newborn infants. It was an exhibit that focused on the polarizing feelings of mothers with new infants by exploring breastfeeding, maternal body image, and post-partum depression. This exhibit traveled to Manila, Philippines, in February 2016, and was also exhibited in Pineapple Labs in Makati City.

Image Description: Unused breastmilk appears with grooves and texture like a mountain range on a map. Unusable breastmilk was scanned with a flatbed scanner. The color data was used to run a gradient script which isolated and “exploded” the cream of the breastmilk in 3D transforming them into models. These models were then 3D printed in plastic. The 2D version of these models are printed on silk.

Image Description: Highly magnified footage of breastmilk looks like expansive organic fireworks in outer space as they are seen over a black backdrop.
